New Delhi is well connected through Air, Train & Road with other towns and cities.
Indira Gandhi International Airport is located 23km (14 miles) southwest of central Delhi and is one of the main international gateways to India. Passengers flying to Indian destinations beyond Delhi should be aware that the domestic terminal at Palam is located some 5km (3.1 miles) away from the international terminal.
New Delhi is the hub of the Indian Railways network. The city has two major railway stations, in New Delhi and Old Delhi. New Delhi station, east of Main Bazaar (Paharganj), is about 1km (0.6 miles) from the northern fringe of Connaught Place. Main Delhi station (Old Delhi), west of Red Fort, is about 7km (4 miles) from Connaught Place. All stations have basic waiting room and restaurant facilities.
New Delhi is linked by air-conditioned, deluxe and ordinary bus services to all major destinations in north India. Five National Highways pass through Delhi and the most important of these are the Grand Trunk Road (National Highway 1) from Amritsar in the north, Mathura Road from Agra in the south, National Highway 2 from Calcutta in the east, and Gurgaon Road (National Highway 8) from Jaipur in the west. The Interstate Bus Terminus (ISBT), at Kashmir Gate north of Old Delhi railway station, is the terminus for all intercity bus services.
The venue of the Art Fair; Pragati Maidan (ITPO) is situated in the heart of the city and is well connected by auto rickshaw & taxis. It is 10 minutes away from the city centre (Connaught Place); 20 minutes away from New Delhi Railway Station & 45 minutes to 1 hour from the International Airport. |
